I originally came from a background in professional services, specialising in HR, I joined the recruitment industry through some great people that I met and formed lasting relationships with. Originally working as a temps consultant, I eventually moved on to become a permanent consultant, manager and then regional manager. I have been lucky to work with great people and teams which has in turn resulted in many awards regionally and nationally. I have recruited through just about every sector you can think of and many many types of skill sets too – this includes marketers and accountants.
I love marketing recruitment because: Marketing for me offers a chance to meet a huge diverse range of candidates and clients – with equally diverse skills sets and needs.

Superpower I want: I love history so ….. Time travel
I started in recruitment way back in 1984 at Michael Page, when it was just a small 5 office business in UK. I learnt loads about working in a small, energetic, fully focussed team that knew the value of teamwork. They invented the term ‘work hard, play hard! I eventually left and started Nicholas Andrews in 1987 with my business partner. Over the next 14 years we grew the business to 14 offices and 150 staff, then sold it to Manpower. I had a couple of years off and in 2004, started Andrew Farr Associates. Ably supported by many ex Nicholas Andrews employees, this new venture grew to 7 offices and 50 staff. I then sold the business to Randstad in 2008. Since then I have been involved as an investor to numerous small companies.
What do you love about the Midlands? The people for their direct, blunt approach and as a mad Birmingham City fan, the football!
Why do you love marketing: It is always pushing the boundaries

Little known fact: I was offered, and turned down, the job as drummer with, at that time, the unknown Dexys Midnight Runners – 6 months later they were Number 1 with Come on Eileen – and I’m supposed to give career advice!!!!!
