We are delighted to be working with with a well-established, SME business  within the construction industry to appoint a hands-on Finance Director.

 

This is a critical senior leadership role, offering full ownership of the finance function within a contracts-led business undergoing a key phase of growth. The successful individual will be playing a key role in driving performance, control and commercial decision-making.

What will you do as a Finance Director?

 

  • Leading the finance function and contributing as a key member of the senior leadership team
  • Owning budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling across a multi-project contracting environment
  • Providing detailed insight into job costing, WIP, margins and contract performance
  • Driving strong cash flow management, including debtor control and project-level cash forecasting
  • Overseeing statutory accounts, audit, tax and compliance
  • Developing financial controls, processes and systems fit for an SME within a growing group
  • Managing and developing a small finance team, remaining hands-on where required

 

What do you need as a Finance Director?

 

This role will suit a commercial finance leader with experience in:

 

  • Construction, contracting, engineering environment
  • SME businesses where finance is close to operations
  • Managing cash flow across multiple live projects with varying payment profiles
  • A fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Comfortable operating at board level while staying close to the detail
